Among more than 400 athletes competing at the 2026 New Zealand Division II Competition in Dunedin, Otago athletes delivered an outstanding showing, with 48 representing clubs from around the region at Moana Pool from 20–22 March.

Across five action-packed sessions, Otago athletes rose to the challenge, producing an exceptional set of results. The team combined for 64 podium finishes, achieved an impressive 73% personal best rate, and secured 29 qualification times for April’s New Zealand Age Group Championships.

The consistency and determination on display were particularly impressive. Eighteen athletes recorded personal bests in every one of their events, while six athletes stood on the podium in every race they contested—a fantastic achievement and a testament to the hard work being put in across the region.

An incredible weekend of racing, congratulations to all athletes on your performances, coaches and managers! 👏👏

A huge thank you also goes to our dedicated volunteers who assisted with the setup and pack-down of equipment, including the bridge. We are equally grateful to our Technical Officials and senior athletes who stepped up to support Swimming NZ in delivering such a successful competition. Your time, effort, and commitment to the sport are invaluable—these events simply wouldn’t happen without you.
