MARY McFARLANE CLASSIC

2-3 May 2026
Moana Pool, Dunedin

We invite all eligible Swimming NZ members to join us in celebrating Mary's decades of service to our sport - it will be a weekend of long course racing you won't want to miss!

Mary McFarlane has been a cornerstone of the Swimming Otago community for over 50 years, dedicating herself to a wide range of roles since her involvement began in 1970 when her son joined the Kiwi Swim Club. From club president to technical official, regional trustee, and eventually Patron of Swimming Otago in 2011, Mary has been instrumental in shaping the region's swimming landscape.

Mary's contributions include officiating at hundreds of meets locally, nationally, and internationally, earning her numerous accolades, including Life Membership with Swimming NZ and Swimming Otago. In 2021, she was awarded Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit. Beyond her administrative and officiating roles, Mary adds unique touches to events, such as piping in athletes at the Division II Championships.

Mary's passion and commitment have positively influenced generations of athletes, making her an inspiration and a model of the profound impact volunteering can have.

We would love your assistance in delivering this competition, whether you are a qualified or trainee Technical Official, a timekeeper, a photographer, or happy to lend a hand in another role. Please complete the duty form to secure your spot!
